In the worldview of Newtonian physics, reality is limited to the 3
dimensional material universe, where we are part of this material world, the
human body is material, and consciousness is an epiphenomenon, a by-product.
With Einstein's Theory of Relativity (laws of the ultra large) and later
with quantum mechanics (laws of the ultra small) we came to understand that
although Newton's laws accurately describe most of the phenomenon that we
encounter in our "ordinary world", there are other, more fundamental forces
in the material universe that we do not directly encounter.
"The real picture of the world is not the look of it,
our perception is only our way of looking at it. And we have learned how to
look at it in a certain way. Until now, we have looked at our world through
what can only be termed 'the superstition of materialism'. The superstition
of materialism holds that this is a physical world and that we are physical
entities in a physical world. It says, "Trust your senses to the exclusion
of all else", when even common sense informs us that, if anything, our
senses are the least reliable test of reality. After all, our senses tell us
that the earth is flat - Nobody believes that anymore. And our senses tell
us that this ground that we are standing on is stationary, and we know it's
moving through outer space at thousands of miles an hour.
Our senses
tell us that objects have a texture, a color, a form, an appearance, a
taste, a smell; and we tend to think this is the intrinsic nature of things.
It's not. It's the intrinsic nature of the observer that is making the
observations. If we want to get a new understanding of our body-minds and of
our potential, we have to discard our own notions of reality that are based
on the superstition of materialism. We have to forget thinking of the human
body as a frozen anatomical structure. Quantum physics has proven that our
physical world and it's passage through time is an 'illusion' of human
senses. So what is real? It turns out that even matter itself is not
solid, but comes from an un-manifest non-physical dimension of Zero Point
Energy. In just the last 3 weeks, 10,000,000,000,000,000 atoms have gone
through your body that have gone through the body of every other species on
this planet. And if you do radioactive isotope studies you can prove beyond
that you replace 98% of all the atoms in your body every year. You make a
new liver every 6 weeks, a new skin once a month, a new stomach lining every
5 days, a new skeleton - it seems so hard and solid, but the skeleton you
have now you didn't have three months ago. Even the brain cells that you
think with as carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen, as those basic
elements, they weren't there one year ago. Wile the DNA that holds memories
of millions of years of evolutionary time, the actual raw material of it
comes and goes like migratory birds every six weeks. So if you think you are
your material body then you certainly have a dilemma. Which one are you
talking about? The 2005 model is not the same as the 2004 model or even the
one from a few months ago." Deepak Chopra
To explain how western science has not noticed
this information until recently, consider the following story:
The Horizontal Cat
There
was an experiment done at Harvard Medical School about 20 years ago and has been
repeated many times since. A group of scientists took newborn kittens and
brought them up in a room that had only black and white horizontal stripes. All
the visual stimuli in the room was horizontal. Another group of kittens was
brought up in a room that had only vertical stripes. And when these kittens grew
up to be mature cats, it turns out that they did not behave like ordinary cats.
Have you ever seen a cat just run into a chair leg.....how about a cat falling
down a flight of stairs ?
Take a minute, guess which group of cats had
trouble with the chair legs and which had difficulties with stairs?
It was the horizontal cats that ran into chair legs and vertical
cats that could not negotiate stairs. Scientists discovered that the cat's early
environment had everything to do with how they perceived their world. In
the same way, humans experiencing a three dimensional material world of objects
persisting in time are not likely to understand the real nature of reality, a
place beyond time where the ultra large, and ultra small manifest from a place
beyond sensory experience.

we are in the midst of the overthrow of the superstition of materialism, not
necessarily because the world is becoming more spiritual, but because science
itself is telling us that the essential nature of this material world is that
it's not material; that the essential nature of this physical world is that it's
not physical; that the essential stuff of the universe is non-stuff.
Are we just physical beings
experiencing a material world having spiritual thoughts or are spiritual beings
that literally manifest the material world in every moment of our lives?
