RE: I have HP tv problem

I don;t know what the SUS drive is but was told by my distributor that it was a known problem with a particular board.  HP was replacing the board for no charge until last dec, which is beyond the typical year warranty.  (although I have heard of some getting the board replaced beyond that cut-off date).  HP claims that they posted this on their website and it was up to the consumer to go to the website to check for the recall.  My TV went in March so they told me I was out of luck.  My argument with them was that they should have notified me when they first knew of the faulty board since they had my info from the warranty card that I filled out.

Join the club Jeff........I ranted and raved for a solid month but got nowhere. The problem was with the SUS drive. It is about a $200-300 part which was determined to be defective by HP. Evidently the covered some repairs but after the units went beyond one year out of warranty, HP refuses to fix it any more. My thought is that it is still a defective part and they should at least give some relief on the part but they will not. We should all continue to rattle their chains just to let them know how pissed we are. And, we should continue to find other with the same problem. Does anyone know of other sites whoch may list complaints such as fixya.com???

42 inch screen popped and went black. Still have sound. What did you end up doing? This seems crazy how common it is and how little they are doing about it.

Thank you, XXXX.  Great Idea!  I will do it this week and get back to you.  I did send a letter to the board but that only got me a  phone call back asking for the serial number again and them telling me that they had no record of my ever calling or ever filling out the warranty card. This concerns me because for the first few calls, they confirmed that I had filled out the warranty info and they had it on file.  For those of you who are new to this, the point of checking that is because this problem was a known defect that they were fixing for free until the end of last year.  so my point to them was that they had my information yet never contacted me to let me know of the defect.
